How We Serve
School Sisters of Notre Dame in the Atlantic-Midwest Province serve with the conviction that the world can be changed through the transformation of persons. Historically, SSNDs in the Atlantic-Midwest Province have expressed our mission of unity through education, which enables persons to reach the fullness of their potential. We have taught in elementary, secondary, and university classrooms, but the concept of education has since expanded beyond the classroom walls.
Our sisters work in many places that serve the poor and unfortunate, helping them further their education, find a job, or provide nutritious food for themselves and their families. We recognize that education of a whole person doesn’t stop when a person finishes formal schooling. Responding to the needs of ever-changing dynamics in our global society, today’s sisters in the Atlantic-Midwest Province bring the unity of Christ’s love to our broken world in a variety of ways.
