The mission of the Notre Dame Learning Center, a free tutoring center sponsored by the Atlantic-Midwest Province of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, is to improve educational opportunities for urban women and children in order to enable them to reach the fullness of their potential and become productive and successful citizens. This program focuses on the educational needs of women and children who do not have the resources to avail themselves of the many opportunities offered to women and children in our affluent society.

The goal of the program is to unlock the reading and/or math ability of participants, providing them with a key to their future. This is carried out by providing one-on-one personalized classes in reading and/or math during the mornings for women and during after school hours for children.
