In the World

School Sisters of Notre Dame have a commitment not only to help persons who are poor, but also to work for justice in the world.

Our Constitution states that a particular concern of all our ministries is the establishment of a just society. Working toward the enablement of persons and the promotion of human dignity, we strive to contribute to positive systemic change in society.

SSNDs at the United Nations

Immigration
We search for ways that favor a spirit of solidarity, from those who have resided in this county for generations to those who have just stepped foot on American soil - a faith that transcends borders and bids us to overcome all forms of discrimination and violence.

Human Trafficking
Trafficking in persons is modern slavery, involving victims who are forced, defrauded or coerced into labor or sexual exploitation. It is an international evil – between 700,000 and 1.5 million persons are moved across borders every year.

Fair Trade Initiative
In today's world economy - where profits rule and small-scale producers are left out of the bargaining process - farmers, craft producers, and other workers are often left without resources or hope for their future.

Gay and Lesbian Fund
Urged by the love of Christ, the School Sisters of Notre Dame choose to express our mission through ministry directed toward education. Thus, our ministry demands a Christian vision of what the human person is called to be and what the world is destined to become.
