As a young girl Sister Mary Jane was inspired to become a nurse by the Public Health Nurses she encountered during her mother's extended illness. This experience proved significant and Sister Mary Jane became a licensed RN in 1970 from the University of Maryland School of Nursing. Her care for others was evident in all she did through many years of service in Baltimore and Florida. May Mary Jane rest in peace.
Always, friendly and outgoing, Sister Margaret was described by a niece as “exuding the joy of the Lord.” Margaret was 104 years old and in the 84th year of her religious profession at her death on March 9, 2024. Her funeral and reception were held on her 105th birthday with over two hundred parishioners, 20+ SSNDs, and seven clergy in the congregation to bid Sister Margaret farewell and to celebrate her life. Cherished memories were shared by all who knew her.
Sister Frances taught mathematics and physics at schools in Wisconsin and Chicago from 1970 til 1983. She also worked at the Academy of Our Lady in Chicago and the Archdiocese of Chicago. In retirement Sister Frances continued inspiring those around her with her gentle and loving spirit. May God welcome her home.
